 Dr. Carolyn Harmon is a Professor and Director of Healthcare Leadership, Nursing Informatics, and Nursing Education at the University of South Carolina. She also serves as a nurse scientist for the ACORN Center and was recently selected to be a Propel AI Scholar at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Harmon received her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina and DNP from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an ANCC Board Certified Informatics Nurse, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, fellow in the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Program, and State of South Carolina’s 2018 Palmetto Gold Award recipient. Dr. Harmon currently serves as a Past President of the American Nursing Informatics Association. She has disseminated her scholarly work in informatics since 2010. In October 2023, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Patient Safety Network featured Dr. Harmon’s research team’s work on cognitive load and unintended consequences of the EHR.
